The policy was revised to reflect recent changes to The Pension Benefits Act which provide Manitobans with more flexibility in dividing pension assets after a relationship breakdown. Revisions include deleting a paragraph that discussed the previous method of dividing pension assets (50/50 split) and a sample agreement (Appendix B) whereby both parties could agree to waive the equal split of pension assets. The Administration will rely on subsection 42(10) of The Workers Compensation Act for guidance in these circumstances.
Amendments to The Pension Benefits Act and regulation 39/2010 also required minor changes to these references in the policy.
