Winston Maharaj: When I became president and CEO of the Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba in 2011, one of the things I thought about was the important role the WCB has played and still does in the province.
We protect the livelihood of workers who are hurt while doing their jobs and we offer a fair system that protects the businesses of small and large employers from liability.
For 100 years, the WCB has been a trusted partner, ensuring and supporting safe and healthy workplaces, while providing workers and employers with valued services for injury prevention, compensation and their return to health and work.
I’m proud to be a part of this great history and of a promising future, because the WCB of Manitoba remains a vital partner in workplaces throughout the province and each of us here works tirelessly, ensuring the needs of today while building a safer tomorrow.
So let me extend my thanks to those who came before and to all those who I work with now, continuing the work that matters to so many Manitobans and their families.
One hundred years is something to celebrate together.
