Release Date
On April 28, 80 countries worldwide will mark an official Day of Mourning to commemorate those workers who have suffered work-related injuries and illnesses and honour those who have lost their lives due to workplace incidents.
This year, observance of the day will look different. Many annual events scheduled for April 28 to recognize the Day of Mourning have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 concerns about social gathering.
The WCB will recognize the Day of Mourning on April 28 by observing a moment of silence, and lowering our flag to half-mast. Please visit our information page for the status of local events. We encourage all Manitobans to observe this day.
